Publication Ethics

International Journal of Innovation in Teaching and Learning Technology is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. The journal follows internationally recognized principles and best practices in scholarly publishing and expects all authors, editors, reviewers, and other parties involved in the publication process to uphold the principles of integrity, transparency, fairness, accountability, confidentiality, and respect for intellectual property.

The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, fabrication or falsification of data, duplicate or redundant publication, inappropriate authorship, manipulation of the peer review process, or any other form of research and publication misconduct.

1. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for ensuring the integrity, originality, and accuracy of their submitted manuscripts. Authors must:

1. Submit original work that has not been published previously and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
2. Ensure that the manuscript does not contain plagiarism, self-plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of research data.
3. Properly acknowledge and cite all sources, ideas, data, and materials obtained from other works.
4. Ensure that all individuals who have made substantial contributions to the research are appropriately recognized as authors or contributors.
5. Ensure that all listed authors have approved the final version of the manuscript and agreed to its submission and publication.
6. Provide accurate, complete, and transparent information regarding the research methodology, data, analysis, and findings.
7. Disclose all relevant conflicts of interest that could influence the research or its interpretation.
8. Clearly acknowledge all sources of research funding and financial support, where applicable.
9. Obtain appropriate ethical approval, informed consent, or other required permissions for research involving human participants, personal data, or other ethically sensitive materials.
10. Cooperate with the editorial team and reviewers throughout the review and revision process.
11. Promptly notify the Editorial Office if a significant error or inaccuracy is discovered in a submitted or published manuscript and cooperate in issuing a correction, retraction, or other appropriate editorial action when necessary.

2. Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for maintaining the academic quality, integrity, and fairness of the journal's editorial and publication processes. Editors must:

1. Evaluate manuscripts fairly, objectively, and independently, without discrimination based on authors' nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, institutional affiliation, academic status, or other personal characteristics.
2. Make editorial decisions based on the manuscript's academic quality, originality, relevance, methodological rigor, and contribution to mathematics education.
3. Maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and information obtained during the editorial and peer review process.
4. Ensure that manuscripts are assigned to appropriate and qualified reviewers.
5. Manage potential conflicts of interest and ensure that editorial decisions are not influenced by personal, professional, financial, or institutional interests.
6. Protect the integrity of the double-blind peer review process.
7. Take appropriate action when allegations or evidence of publication misconduct arise.
8. Ensure that corrections, retractions, expressions of concern, or other post-publication actions are handled appropriately when necessary.
9. Avoid using unpublished information from submitted manuscripts for personal or professional advantage.
10. Maintain appropriate editorial records and ensure transparency and consistency in the journal's publication procedures.

3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers play an essential role in maintaining the scholarly quality and integrity of International Journal of Innovation in Teaching and Learning Technology. Reviewers are expected to:

1. Provide objective, constructive, and evidence-based evaluations of submitted manuscripts.
2. Assess manuscripts based on their originality, significance, methodological rigor, validity of analysis, clarity, relevance, and contribution to mathematics education.
3. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding manuscripts and all information obtained during the review process.
4. Not disclose, reproduce, distribute, or use unpublished information from a manuscript for personal or professional purposes.
5. Identify relevant published works that have not been adequately cited by the authors, where appropriate.
6. Promptly inform the Editor of any suspected plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, or other ethical concerns.
7. Declare any actual, potential, or perceived conflict of interest and decline the review assignment when impartiality may be compromised.
8. Complete reviews within the agreed timeframe or inform the Editor promptly if an extension is required.
9. Provide professional and respectful comments and avoid personal criticism of the authors.
10. Base recommendations on the scholarly quality of the manuscript and not on personal, institutional, or other irrelevant considerations.

4. Plagiarism and Research Misconduct

International Journal of Innovation in Teaching and Learning Technology considers plagiarism and other forms of research misconduct serious violations of academic integrity. Manuscripts may be screened using appropriate plagiarism or similarity-detection tools.

Research and publication misconduct includes, but is not limited to:

• plagiarism and inappropriate reuse of previously published material;
• fabrication or falsification of research data;
• duplicate or redundant publication;
• inappropriate or disputed authorship;
• manipulation of citations or peer review;
• undisclosed conflicts of interest; and
• other practices that compromise the integrity of scholarly communication.

When suspected misconduct is identified, the journal may conduct an appropriate investigation and take necessary actions, including rejection of the manuscript, correction, retraction, or notification of the relevant institution, where appropriate.

5. Conflicts of Interest

All authors, editors, and reviewers are expected to disclose any financial, personal, professional, academic, or institutional relationships that could influence their judgment or create a potential conflict of interest.

A conflict of interest does not necessarily prevent publication or participation in the review process; however, it must be disclosed and appropriately managed to ensure transparency and impartiality.

6. Corrections and Retractions

The journal is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the published scholarly record. When significant errors, ethical violations, or research misconduct are identified after publication, the journal may publish a correction, retraction, or expression of concern, depending on the nature and seriousness of the issue.

Authors are encouraged to promptly notify the Editorial Office if they discover significant errors in their published work.

7. Confidentiality and Data Protection

All manuscripts, reviewer reports, editorial correspondence, and other information obtained during the publication process are treated as confidential. Such information must not be disclosed to unauthorized parties or used for purposes unrelated to the editorial and peer review process.

The journal is committed to protecting personal and research information in accordance with applicable ethical and legal standards.

8. Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are based on academic merit, relevance, originality, methodological quality, and contribution to the field of mathematics education. Editorial decisions must not be influenced by commercial interests, financial considerations, institutional relationships, political interests, or other external pressures.

By submitting a manuscript to International Journal of Innovation in Teaching and Learning Technology, authors acknowledge and agree to comply with these publication ethics and academic integrity principles.
